Current Status RE: Covid-19
Current Status – We have no COVID-19 cases in any of our homes.
Our doors remain closed to all visitors and families.
Over the past few weeks there has been positive news regarding the decline in the number of COVID cases in B.C. While this is good news we remain mindful that COVID is still present in our province and continues to pose a risk to our most vulnerable population. Due to this we continue to adhere to the provincial and Medical Health Officer Orders for long term care.
This pandemic has had a significant impact on us all and especially those living in care homes. It has been a difficult few months for our residents and their families and now that we are seeing some restrictions in our cities slowly being lifted we are looking ahead to how this may look for our homes once we have been given the directive to do so. As always the health and safety of our residents and staff is a priority. This means that we will follow public health orders and will continue to use every precaution necessary such as; physical distancing, frequent handwashing, enhanced cleaning, daily screening for symptoms, and wearing face masks – theses safety measures will most likely remain in place until a vaccine is found.
As decisions are made by our local health authorities regarding visitation in our homes we will approach gradually, and with extreme care and attention ensuring families and friends are informed in advance of these directives.
As Father’s Day approaches, plans are being made at our homes to recognize the special men in our lives. Much like this past Mother’s Day this Father’s Day will look different than those in the past. We are still not able to accept gifts for your loved one however we can assure you our activity and care staff are arranging something special for our Fathers, Grandfathers, Great-grandfathers and friends! We can accept cards provided that they are mailed or brought to the site during business hours and left at the front doors as directed by the signage.
As we head into summer Kaigo is committed to being part of the long-term solution for dealing with the COVID virus. Our organization is dedicated to working with governments, public health officials, our community partners, residents, families and employees to not only learn lessons from this pandemic, but to also contribute to improving care and service for all those in long term care.
